Individual Therapy

in the greater Fort Lauderdale area and online

I work with those looking for more than symptom relief, for those who seek self-discovery.

The therapy I provide is based on the tradition of the founders—Carl Rodgers, Fritz Pearls, Carl Young. Weaving these evidence-based traditions together, I support your growth in with authenticity and meaning. I strive for excellence in my work, and am not interested in psychology fads, quick fixes, or giving advice.

A Safe and Compassionate Space

Above all, I believe that healing happens in the context of a supportive relationship. In tradition of Carl Rogers’ Person-Centered philosophy, I work to create a space where you feel fully seen, accepted, and valued. Rather than giving you a rigid plan, I meet you with empathy, authenticity, and respect.I believe that you already carry the capability for growth within you.

Awareness in the Present

Often we spend so much energy reliving the past or worrying about the future that we lose touch with what’s happening right now. Gestalt therapy emphasizes present-moment awareness—helping you notice your feelings, thoughts, and body sensations as they unfold. This focus on the “here and now” can bring insight, resolve old patterns, and deepen your connection with yourself and others.

A Genuine Relationship

Our relationships shape who we are and the quality of our lives. Our deepest wounds come from painful dynamics with others. Therefore healing also happens in relationships. In Relational Therapy, I show up as a real person, in an authentic and human way. We build a genuine relationship where you explore patterns from past relationships as they show up in the present. You’ll discover how patterns emerge and try new ways of connecting, with safety, openness, and a deeper understanding.

The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.

EMDR Therapy

Finding Freedom from the Past

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a research proven approach to help people heal from trauma and feared experiences that have control over their life. While EMDR is a structured process, its core is creating a safe environment and caring therapeutic relationship. EMDR isn’t about me “fixing” you. It’s about empowering you to release what no longer serves you and to discover a new freedom.

How EMDR Works, Simply

When painful experiences aren’t fully processed, they can get “stuck” in the nervous system. EMDR helps the brain reprocess these memories in a safe, supported way, using techniques like guided eye movements.

It doesn’t erase memories, but helps them lose their sharp edges. They become part of your story, but no longer control you.

Clients often describe feeling:

  • Lighter and less burdened by the past

  • Less reactive to triggers

  • Calmer, steadier, and more grounded

  • More compassionate toward themselves

Healing at Your Pace

You are the expert on your own life. My role is not to push or prescribe, but to walk alongside you. I honor your pace, your voice, and your inner wisdom.

With EMDR, this means:

  • You set the pace. Nothing happens unless you feel ready.

  • You decide what feels important to work on.

  • You are in control of the process, and I’m there as a steady guide.

What to expect

Our sessions begin by creating safety and trust. You’ll learn grounding tools to steady yourself throughout the process. You’ll be encouraged to share your concerns and experiences. From there, we’ll carefully approach the memories or feelings you choose to work with.

During the desensitization and reprocessing phases, I’ll guide you gently, but you remain in charge. You may notice thoughts, emotions, or images shifting. When the session is coming to a close, we’ll take time to end with care so you leave feeling supported and steady.

FAQs

  • Insurance makes therapy more accessible for many individuals. But, this comes with many stipulations. They require a diagnosis for billing purposes, which may not be necessary or beneficial for you. They require therapists to submit your confidential and private information. They often dictate the length and type of treatment, which I strongly believe is a decision best made between the two of us. For those seeking EMDR, I believe EMDR provides the fastest relief when completed for at least 90 minutes at a time. This type of service is not covered under insurance plans. Those who utilize their insurance to cover weekly sessions with EMDR find progress to be slower as life events often arise and delay engaging in this beneficial modality.

Self-pay ensures your confidentiality and prevents insurance company interference in our therapeutic work together. With self-pay, we decide how long treatment should be and how often it should be. Additionally, some clients do not meet full criteria for a diagnosis their insurance would accept for therapy services, meaning they lose access to their “more accessible” care, despite often paying high premiums or deductibles.

  • Insurance does cover EMDR under time constraints. Those who use insurance for EMDR find the process to be long and often delayed by life events. For best results, I recommend at least 90 minutes per EMDR session, which insurance does not cover.

  • Ten percent of my active clients are offered a sliding scale or pro bono services.

  • In the first session we are getting to know one another. I want to hear about what brought you to therapy, about who and what is important to you, and any other information you want to share. I also review practice policies and answer any questions you may have about them or the therapeutic process.

  • Just as your story is unique, so is your therapeutic process. The number of sessions needed can vary significantly while we work towards your goals.
