EMDR Therapy
Finding Freedom from the Past
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a research proven approach to help people heal from trauma and feared experiences that have control over their life. While EMDR is a structured process, its core is creating a safe environment and caring relationship with a therapist. EMDR isn’t about me “fixing” you. It’s about empowering you to release what no longer serves you and to discover a new freedom.
How does EMDR Work?
When painful experiences aren’t fully processed, they can get “stuck” in the nervous system. EMDR helps the brain reprocess these memories in a safe, supported way, using techniques like guided eye movements.
It doesn’t erase memories, but helps them lose their sharp edges. They become part of your story, but no longer control you.
Clients often describe feeling:
Lighter and less burdened by the past
Less reactive to triggers
Calmer, steadier, and more grounded
More compassionate toward themselves
Healing at Your Pace
You are the expert on your own life. My role is not to push or prescribe, but to walk alongside you. I honor your pace, your voice, and your inner wisdom.
With EMDR, this means:
You set the pace. Nothing happens unless you feel ready.
You decide what feels important to work on.
You are in control of the process, and I’m there as a steady guide.
What Should I Expect?
Our sessions begin by creating safety and trust. You’ll learn grounding tools to steady yourself throughout the process. You’ll be encouraged to share your concerns and experiences. From there, we’ll carefully approach the memories or feelings you choose to work with.
During the desensitization and reprocessing phases, I’ll guide you gently, but you remain in charge. You may notice thoughts, emotions, or images shifting. When the session is coming to a close, we’ll take time to end with care so you leave feeling supported and steady.
Is EMDR Right for Me?
If you’ve experienced trauma or find yourself “stuck” in patterns of fear. EMDR may offer relief. EMDR works with your mind’s natural ability to heal.
You may benefit from EMDR if you:
Struggle with recurring distressing memories
Feel anxious or on edge without knowing why
Have experienced loss, abuse, or sudden change
Want to release old patterns and develop more freedom
